Lupita's kitchen, three generations later

Guadalupe Ramos opened Casa Lupita with eight tables and her mother's mole recipe. Today her son runs the kitchen and her granddaughter runs the bar, and the mole recipe has not changed.

We grind our own corn every morning, buy chiles straight from Oaxaca and cook the way we eat at home: slowly, and with too much food on the table.

Thursday is mole night.

Three moles, slow cooked for two days, served with chicken, pork or roasted squash. Live son jarocho music from 7 pm. Book ahead, it is the busiest night of the week.
